STONE SOUR Drummer Interviewed At U.K.'s DOWNLOAD Festival
June 17, 2010ThrashHits.com conducted an interview with STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga at this year's Download festival, which was held June 11-13, 2010 at Donington Park, United Kingdom. Watch the chat below.
According to Billboard.com, STONE SOUR's new song "Mission Statement" was downloaded last week over 50,000 times for free during a special 48-hour period at the group's web site. The track comes off the band's first new LP in nearly four years, "Audio Secrecy", which is scheduled for release on September 7 via Roadrunner Records.
"I'm just sort of blown away and ecstatic," singer Corey Taylor — who also fronts SLIPKNOT — told Billboard.com. "There's a lot of buzz and people are really stoked. This album is not only better than the first two STONE SOUR albums combined, to me it's the most well-rounded and diverse album I've ever been able to make. The music is just so visceral, and 'Mission Statement' is a perfect example of where it's at. That's a great anthem. It's got a little bit of the heavy but also is melodic as hell."
The album's first commercial single will be "Say You'll Haunt Me", which ships to modern rock and rock radio on Tuesday, July 6.
STONE SOUR (Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) and producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, ALICE IN CHAINS, DEFTONES) recorded "Audio Secrecy" at Blackbird Studios in Nashville during the destructive storms and devastating floods that hit the historic heart of Music City.
The quintet will be previewing select songs from the album during this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The 36-date tour launches August 17 in Minneapolis, MN and will visit arenas and amphitheatres across North America before wrapping October 4 in Madison, WI.
STONE SOUR debuted three brand new songs — "Mission Statement", "The Bitter End" and "Digital" — during the band's June 7, 2010 concert at Columbia in Berlin, Germany.
